Tips To Making Your Own Cheap
Esmeralda Costume
Halloween will soon be here. Time to dress up and have some
fun. For a cheap
Esmeralda costume that looks like you spent hundreds of
dollars, here are a few simple things that can make your costume truly pop.
Start at the top with a good quality wig. This will give you luxurious, long
dark hair that you can style any way you want. But, of course, you will probably
want to wear it long and down your back for the full gypsy look. For an extra
bit of authenticity, you can wear a bandanna or silk scarf over your head,
wrapped gypsy style.
Next, put on a puffy white cotton blouse that drops off your shoulders. You can
wear this with a white cotton skirt that goes to your ankles, or you could just
wear a white cotton dress that has dropped shoulders. Over this white dress or
blouse and skirt combination, put on an over-skirt that stays open in front.
This creates the full-peasant style dress that the gypsies have been known to
wear.
No gypsy costume would be complete without a bustier. This ornate piece of
clothing is sometimes jokingly called the "push and shove" as it literally
pushes and shoves a woman's breasts in toward each other from the sides while
lifting them upwards to provide more defined cleavage. If you do not know how to
make your own, or you can not afford one, probably your best bet to help you
make a cheap Esmeralda costume is using an ornate vest.
The over-skirt is usually in a contrasting color to the white, and usually a
solid. Use any color but red, as red is an unfortunate color for gypsies and
they generally do not wear it. Your bustier or vest could color coordinate with
the skirt, but does not have to.
Of course, your gypsy costume would not be complete without a bit of flash.
Remember to put on large hoop earrings. Add a bunch of bangles at your wrists.
Wear a few extra rings. You will be a convincing gypsy in no time at all.
