Easy DIY Halloween Couples Costumes Ideas

Everyone likes to dress up for a Halloween party but not everyone can afford to

splash out and hire or buy a full outfit. Partygoers who are attending with a partner or friend may want to choose outfits that compliment each other and there are loads of easy DIY Halloween couples costumes ideas you could choose from.

Although some party hosts set a theme, a lot of the time guests have free reign to dress up as they please. But being on a tight budget doesn't mean you have to limit your options as there are many easy DIY Halloween couples costumes ideas for outfits that can be made at home. And making your own costume can be fun.

If you want to go for a traditional spooky look, you could go as zombies, as these are characters that can be created with very little outlay. To create the zombie look, dig out some old clothes, make some rips in them and shred them at the sleeves and ankles. Apply white face paint to your face, and if you can mix with a little green even better.

Add face paint to make dark rings around the eyes, and add a little fake blood around the mouth. Messing up your hair will also add to the effect. The compulsory zombie walk must also be adopted, with arms held straight out in front and walking in slow steps with straight legs. If you really want to complete the zombie-like effect, the occasional rolling back of the eyes to expose just the whites and odd groan are a must.

There are also many easy DIY Halloween couples costumes ideas for characters from films or TV, for example Neo and Trinity from The Matrix. These two characters are cool, serious and mysterious. They don't give much away. To create their look all that's needed are long black overcoats worn over black clothing, topped off with very dark sunglasses.

Matrix-style sunglasses can be picked up quite cheaply and if you don't already own a long black coat, you might want to check out your local charity shop. Trinity's outfit is shiny black, so leather, leather look or PVC will work equally as well.

Some outfits require a little more planning and outlay than others and there's always the option to combine a shop bought or hired outfit with a home made ensemble. If you can stretch to buying or hiring one full costume, you may want to dig in your own closets to see what you could use for the partner character. One possible couple is Superman and Lois Lane.

Of course not many men have a blue body suit with red boots and cape in their closets, but many women will have an everyday office outfit comprising of a blouse and suit skirt. Just like Lois Lane. Any money you do have free for hiring/buying a costume can be spent on the Superman costume.

Some classic ideas from the world of TV and film include Laurel and Hardy. All that's needed are two dark suits, bowler hats and you're set. Of course you'll have to decide which one of you is going to be the bossy Hardy with his silly mustache and who is going to be the quiet one, Laurel. And don't forget that silly walk!
